June Newsletter
June is here – already 6 Months into the year, where does it go?.
I think you'll all agree the Audax at the beginning of May was a great day and we were blessed with fabulous weather. A BIG thank you to the organisers, helpers and all that took part.
*** Important*** Change of Club Email
Due to imminent changes regarding spamming and marketing, in order to send out bulk mails efficiently we have had to adopt a 'commercial' style email address. Our new email address is now admin@northbirminghamcycling.uk
All official Club Correspondence must use this address in future.
If you have something to post to club members please email me using the above address and I will send it out. Alternatively don't forget our, bulletin board, facebook and Strava groups can also be used to post to the majority of members.
SYLVIA SHARPLES ANNUAL PLANT SALE 7th June - 8pm at the Cooper Rooms. Good Quality Plants at reasonable prices.
Each year, Sylvia offers her plants for sale for a charity of her choice. This year the funds raised will go to THE BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION.
Tea and Coffee will be served.
HIGHBURY THEATRE
The Theatre Group have enjoyed some excellent plays this Season. The last play for the Season is THE HERBAL GARDEN which concentrates on the trial of Susannah Shakespeare and her husband. For Shakespeare lovers, this maybe of interest.
Seats reserved for WEDNESDAY, 15th JUNE 2016. Time: 7.30 p.m. Sheffield Road, Boldmere.

The Club BBQ is to be held on Sunday 10th July and the B and C rides will both be going please register with David Frost your attendance. Cost is £3 per head.

Tuesday the 21st June there is an Evening Ride out to the Dog and Doublet near Bodymore Heath Starting at 7pm from the Town Gate, Sutton Park or meet their at 8pm. If cycling then you should carry lights for the return.
The 1st Alternative Sunday Ride is to the Bull and Bladder it will be Sunday the 3rd July From the Hardwick Arms at 10.00 o'clock. You will need lights for the Netherton Tunnel. Cobs can be purchased at the Pub. All welcome no one will be left behind, this ride is using some off rd sections and canal tow paths and a multi terrain / hybrid bike is required
There is a Chris Boardman Book Signing Wednesday June 15 from 1pm. “Triumphs & Turbulence” his Autobiography. The event with Chris Boardman is at: WHSmiths, 29 Union Street, Birmingham, B2 4LR.
We have been invited by the CCGiro onto a Joint ride over the summer months.
The ride will leave Mere Green Island at 9.00am and return back by 1.00pm. Each ride is likely to be around 40 miles with a cafe stop included. The format will be similar to the Saturday morning rides and may appeal to those not able to make a full day Sunday ride.

June 26th Solihull Audax, All rides start and finish with free food at the Silhilians Sports Club, next to J5 M24
There are 4 rides of 200Km, 160Km, 100Km and 60Km Fun ride. The rides start at 8:00, 8:30, 9:00 and 9:30 respectively. A bar and free barbecue will take place at the end of the rides.

HEART OF ENGLAND BIKE RIDE – SUNDAY 17TH JULY 2016
Organised by volunteers from the Knowle and Dorridge Lions to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation and local causes. All three routes cover 60 miles or for anyone wanting to do a shorter distance 12, 18 or 30 mile routes are available. The event starts and finishes at the stunning Packwood Hall, National Trust property, Lapworth, Solihull B94 6AT. There is an advance discounted adult entry fee of £10.00, after the 10TH July the entry fee is £15.00 (including on the day entries) and includes free entry to the National Trust property and gardens. Afterwards cyclists will also be able to purchase food from the Lions BBQ or the NT café.
