Minutes of Committee Meeting
Held on Tuesday 7th May 2019
Present: Matt Hinkley, Sue Perry, Julie Snook, Sue Jinks, Dave Frost and Mike Fowler
1. The Chair welcomed committee members to the meeting.
2. Apologies: Paul Griffiths, Ian Bolton, Ros Llewellyn, Sarah Hinkley
3. Minutes: The minutes of the previous meeting were circulated prior to this meeting; it was
agreed they were a true record.
4. Matters Arising:
a) Charity Coffee morning going ahead on Saturday 1st June 2019
b) Details of the 2019 Club One hundred will be on the July – Sept 2019 Rides List.
c) Club Centennial Meeting did not take place on 19th March 2019 as this date was taken by
the First Aid course.
5. Secretary’s Report:
Since our last meeting I have dealt with three enquiries via email.
6. Treasurer’s Report:
In his absence the Treasurer submitted a finance report:
Income: Sale of Jerseys and gilets £850
Membership Subs £200
Total £1050
Outgoings: Purchase of 3 extra small gilets £90
6 keys for clubroom cupboard £18
Coopers Room Hire (Jan- Mar 2019) £96
Printer cartridges £ 6.98
First Aid training £500
Total £710.98
The updated bank account balance is £4066.69
At the same date in 2018 the balance was £4647. However there are still the Jumble Sale
proceeds to add to the accounts.
7. Rides:
Discussion re: signing in Ride Books
Tuesday Rides
Currently a B Ride 13-14 mph of 40 to 50 miles alternating from St Peters or The Fox.
The C Ride 11-12 mph attracts a small number of riders at present.
Cycling UK
North Birmingham
Member Group
There are also Slower Rides 10 mph of 20 to 30 miles starting from a variety of locations
some of which are car assisted.
Wednesday Rides
Now starting at 1:30 pm from a variety of locations some of which are car assisted.
Thursday Rides
Struggle to get ride leaders for many of the rides. Larger numbers are turning up for the
B ride so often split into two groups.
The C ride option is rather ad hoc with only one named leader on rides from The Fox
Friday Rides
Two options now available. A ‘C’ ride at 12 mph to Fisherwick Lakes and a Slower Ride
of 10 mph to Curborough.
Saturday Rides
Often because of low numbers Groups 4 and 5 are combined.
No feedback from riders of Groups 1, 2 & 3
Some venues need to have prior notification of our intended visit.
Sunday Rides
No specific rides have been arranged. But some ad hoc café rides may be arranged at
short notice and posted via social media.
8. Membership Matters:
a) No further communications from Head Office.
9. Marketing:
Rides List drawn up by P. Griffiths is published each quarter on the website and printed
copies are available by request.
10. Social:
a) Cycle Jumble sale was held on Saturday 2nd March 2019 in Erdington. Number of
attendees down on previous years.
b) Beer and Skittles evening took place on Saturday 9th March 2019 at the Walsall Arms.
There were thirty in attendance.
c) Club Barbecue to be held at the Colville Arms, Lullington on Sunday 7th July
d) Wednesday evening social rides to be planned for the lighter evenings
11. Any Other Business
a) Charity Coffee morning planned for Saturday 1st June 2019
b) Club Hundred date needs to be set and publicised
c) Club Centennial meeting – another meeting needs to be set.
d) Wreath to be bought for the Cyclists Memorial Service at Meriden on 19th May 2019.
e) Next Sunday’s (12th May) Audax numbers are down.
