CTC NORTH BIRMINGHAM GROUP.
Committee Meeting on Tuesday 15th November 2016
Present: Matt Hinkley, Sue Perry, Sue Jinks, Sally Wheelwright, Ian Bolton and Peter Farrell.
AGENDA
1. Apologies for absence: Javed Akhtar, Julie Snook, and Paul Griffiths.
2. Minutes of the last meeting. These were accepted by the Committee as a true and fair record.
3. Matters arising from these minutes. There were no matters arsing.
4. GENERAL
Secretary’s Report and correspondence. There was nothing to report.
Treasurer’s Report of financial position. Javed was unable to attend the meeting.
Approval of AGM Minutes. These were accepted by the Committee as true and fair.
5. RIDES
Ride leader books. All members of the Committee agreed it was a good idea for each rides leader to record the names of riders in their group in case there is an accident and a possible insurance claim. Sally agreed to buy these books.
Leader shortfall. We are still short of leaders. Ian agreed to prepare a questionnaire to be sent out to all members to see if they are prepared to lead.
Rides policy. Matt agreed to update the rides policy to include Mary’s ride on Tuesday and Wednesday evening rides in the summer.
Questionnaire. Peter reported on the findings of the questionnaire:
There were 18 replies.
12 of these were from members who lead rides.
2 people said they would be prepared to lead rides.
1 member would like a visit to the Velodrome.
1 member would like rides on Mondays.
1 member would like more variety on Tuesdays.
1 member would like a B ride on Friday.
Sunday lunch at Angler’s café Moira.
Suggested additional Saturday venues: Ash End Farm, National Arboretum, Hoar Farm, Chase Farm, Lichfield College and The Coalville Arms, Lullington.
1 member suggested that Morrisons, Heart of England and Shenstone Garden Centre are not popular venues.
1 member would like longer rides on Sundays.
2 members would like weekends away and UK tours.
2 members would be prepared to bring on new members.
1 member stated that new slower group Saturday rides are to be revised to give more variety.
1 member would like to see car/rail assisted rides.
1 member suggested an end to end event to mark 100 years.
6. MARKETING
Jerseys: the first batch of twenty jerseys have been sold. Contact Sally on j.wheelwright@sky.com if you would like to order one.
Mud flaps: these can be bought at £5.80 each. Details will be posted on the website and newsletter
7. FINANCES
Can the club have a debit card for payments?
Change names on cheques.
Returns to Head Office and sending in form for claiming our money back.
These questions were not able to be discussed as Javed was not at the meeting. Peter agreed to phone Javed.
8. SOCIAL
Proposals for next quarter: Possible visits include the Veledrome at Derby and the Robotic Dairy at Harleston.
Engraving of trophies: This has been done by Mary.
Christmas Social Events progress: 34 members are going to Wishaw Golf; 22 members to the Wing Wah.
9. ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Ian made a plea for riders to stay within the speed guidelines set out on the rides list.
Sally showed an update on the new website. Our new webmaster, Charlie, has been working very hard on the rides calendar and we hope that it will be up and running soon.
10. DATE, TIME & PLACE of next Committee meeting.
This will be on 7 February 2017 at the club house.
