Hopefully May should bring some warmer weather than of late and the prospect of some cycling in shorts for a change (I hope I haven't jinxed it).
New Ride Ideas …..
I would like to introduce monthly alternative On & Off road Rides on a Sunday, the first being to the “Bull and Bladder” date yet to be arranged, not necessarily in May.
Much of this ride would be on canal towpaths and would include cycling through the Netherton Tunnel. With a start point at the Hardwick Arms, the distance would be around 40 Miles and the pace will be steady to suit who turns up, nobody will be left behind. If sufficiently popular to be included in the rides programme, this type of ride can be arranged (where apporpriate) to share the same lunch stop as the regular Sunday rides – please let me know if it would be of interest to you.
If anyone else has any ideas for new destinations or types of rides that are not currently featured on our rides list, please feel free to send me any suggestions and we will endeavour to include them in our rides programme.

Annual Meriden Cyclists Memorial Service
There is a Sunday 'C' Ride that Dave Frost is leading from the Fox at Walmley at 9:30
It’s 90 years since an obelisk of Cornish granite was unveiled on Meriden’s village green, in memory of all those cyclists who had died in the First World War.
More than 10,000 cyclists attended the dedication in 1921; many had ridden through the night to be there. ‘It commemorates cyclists – racingmen, clubmen, and tourists alike.
They left the tracks and roads of the homeland to die on foreign fields of battle,’ said Howard Gritten MP in his address on 21st May 1921.
He noted that ‘our idea of commemorating the unknown preceded the Westminster Abbey idea of the “Unknown Warrior”’.
