The play ‘Beryl’. Highbury Theatre Centre 29 May - 9 June 2018
A friend of mine is directing this famous play about the life and sporting achievements of Beryl Burton (nee Charnock) next year. More than one scene is of Beryl and 3 female competitors riding 1970’s bikes mounted on stands, so Highbury Theatre badly needs to cut hiring costs right down by borrowing as many bikes of approximately the right decade for the run of the play - 29 May - 9 June 2018 and for (ideally) two weeks of rehearsals beforehand. Of course, any mechanically equivalent bike will suffice for the rehearsals.
I am willing to collect any loaned bikes personally and return them to the owners in the week after the play has ended. The loans will be acknowledged with thanks in the programme for this play.

MIKE EADES - 2018 Dieppe Raid
Eleven of us attended the 2017 Dieppe Raid, which we all enjoyed immensely, and I plan to organise a similar trip in 2018, which will take place on the weekend 23rd/24th June.
I plan to have a similar itinerary to last year :-
Friday 22nd Travel down to Newhaven for afternoon ferry
Saturday 23rd Group / club ride(s)
Sunday 24th Formal Dieppe Raid ride over distances of 60, 100 or 140km followed by formal meal
Monday Group / club ride(s) and return on evening ferry arriving back home in the early hours.
Expect the cost to be similar to this year, £200 if you make your own way to and from Newhaven, or £250 if six of us hire and share a van. This price includes return Ferry cost, accommodation, ride entry (including refreshments en route) and the formal meal, but does not include other meals, drinks and general expenses.
The party will probably be limited to a maximum of 18, if you are interested in attending please email mike.eades@talktalk.net before Christmas.
